Data Lake Formation:Metadata query

Metadata query refers to the process of quickly locating and querying information such as catalog list, databases, and table structures in a data lake by building an efficient and comprehensive indexing system. This topic describers how to perform metadata query in Data Lake Formation.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Data Lake Formation console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Metadata > Metadata Query.

  3. In the Catalog List dropdown box, select the target data catalog.

  4. In the search box, enter the following information, click the image icon. The filter conditions and query results will be displayed below.

    • Global search: Enter any character for a fuzzy match (including database name, table name, column name).

    • Database Name, Table Name, Column Name, Description: Enter any character for a fuzzy match.

    • Owner: Exact match of the Owner name.

    • Location: Enter location information for a fuzzy match.

    • Creation At, Last Updated At: Time range search (format: 20220101 or >= 20211222 or <= 20220101).

    • Tableformat: Exact match of the table format.
