A Dedicated Host lifecycle starts when the host is created and ends when it is released. Throughout this lifecycle, the host transitions through several statuses that reflect its current health and availability.
The following table describes each status and what you can do when the host is in that status.

| Physical Machine Risk | Stable | The host is available, but the underlying physical machine has detected potential risks. ECS instances on this host may fail. | Error | Stable | An error has occurred on the host and it is not functioning normally. Submit a ticket to report and resolve the issue. An error has occurred on the dedicated host. You can submit a ticket to report and resolve the error. | Yes |
| Expired | Stable | The subscription for this host has expired. You cannot create new ECS instances on the host until you renew it. After renewal, the status returns to Running. For instructions, see Manually renew a dedicated host. | Yes |
