DataWorks ChatBI uses natural language processing and intelligent analysis to automate the full data analysis pipeline—from understanding your question and extracting data to generating code and producing visual reports—all through a conversational interface that significantly improves data analysis efficiency and decision accuracy.
Features
ChatBI acts as your expert data analyst. In a conversational session, you can ask questions about your data based on a target dataset. ChatBI then automatically performs a series of intelligent operations, including understanding your question, identifying the correct data table, generating and running query code, creating visualizations, and summarizing key findings, helping you quickly complete routine analysis tasks and receive intuitive reports that combine text and charts.
Billing
DataWorks ChatBI is officially commercialized and billed. For billing details, see Data Agent pricing.
Prerequisites
Before you use ChatBI, make sure that the following requirements are met:

A serverless resource group is available in the corresponding region.

A dataset is created to define the scope of your analysis. Both access methods analyze data based on a dataset.
Usage
ChatBI provides two access methods: use the standalone ChatBI page directly, or invoke the built-in DataWorks ChatBI Skill in a Data Agent conversation. You can choose either method based on your scenario.
Use the standalone ChatBI page
Log in to Alibaba Cloud and open the ChatBI Intelligent Data Insights page. Select the access point that matches the region of your DataWorks resources, such as your dataset and serverless resource group.

Create a dataset: Before you start a session in ChatBI, you must define the scope of your analysis by creating a dataset. A dataset can be a data table from a target data source or a local file.

Start a ChatBI session: You can ask questions in the session window. Based on your questions, ChatBI automatically performs a series of intelligent operations, including identifying the target data table, querying the data, generating and running code, creating visualizations, and summarizing findings.

(Optional) Create a knowledge base: If session results are unsatisfactory, you can configure question templates, glossary terms, and business logic. This configuration helps the model better understand your questions and business needs and generate more accurate query code.

(Optional) Share reports: You can generate an HTML link for reports produced by ChatBI or export them as PDF files to share with other team members and stakeholders.
Use ChatBI in Data Agent
Data Agent comes with official built-in DataWorks Skills. Among them, the DataWorks ChatBI Skill provides natural language data query and in-depth analysis capabilities for your conversations. After you enable this Skill, you can perform quick data queries and in-depth analysis directly in a Data Agent conversation, and obtain analysis results that span insights, attribution, and action recommendations. Structured outputs such as HTML analysis reports are also supported, and you can further edit them precisely.
Enable the DataWorks ChatBI Skill

Go to the Data Agent session page. In the left sidebar, click to open the Skills management panel.

Click the DataWorks tab to view the list of official built-in Skills.

Find the DataWorks ChatBI Skill card and turn on the switch to enable the Skill.
Official built-in Skills are enabled or disabled on a per-instance basis. For information about how to upload and use custom Skills, see Custom Skills and Data Agent introduction.
Invoke the ChatBI Skill
After the DataWorks ChatBI Skill is enabled, Data Agent automatically routes your question to this Skill when the question involves scenarios such as data analysis or data queries. ChatBI then completes the analysis based on the target dataset and returns the results, without the need to manually switch tools.
To make sure that your question is precisely handled by the ChatBI analysis capability, you can also explicitly specify the Skill name when you ask a question. Enter /dataworks-chatbi-skill in the input box, followed by your data question. Data Agent then directly invokes the DataWorks ChatBI Skill to handle this question.
