A virtual dimension logical table standardizes dimension objects without specific business entities or definable timestamp ranges, such as visitors and URLs. This topic outlines the process of creating one.
Prerequisites
Create a virtual business object. For more information, see Create and manage business entities.
Step 1: Create a virtual dimension logical table
For more information, see Data development entry to go to the data development page.
On the Data Development page, use the following instructions to access the Create Dimension Logical Table dialog box.
In the Create Dimension Logical Table dialog box, set the parameters as follows:
Parameter
Description
Business Object
Choose Virtual Object.
Table Type
Selecting Virtual Object as the business object automatically sets the table type to Virtual Dimension Logical Table, which is fixed.
Business Unit
Defaults to the data block associated with the project and is not modifiable.
Data Domain
Allows selection from all subject areas within the data block.
Data Timeliness
Defines the scheduling type for subsequent dimension logical table tasks in the production environment. The default setting for virtual dimension logical tables is T+1 (daily task).
Logical Table Name
Dataphin automatically generates the logical table name according to the format
<data block name>.dim_virtual_custom name
, which is not editable. Custom names must adhere to the following rules:Custom names follow this naming convention:
Use letters, numbers, or underscores (_).
Do not exceed 64 characters.
Chinese Name
The Chinese name should conform to the following:
Limit to 128 characters.
Accepts any characters.
Description
Enter a concise description of the dimension logical table.
Click OK once to confirm.
Step 2: Save and submit the virtual dimension logical table
Use the instructions below to submit the virtual dimension logical table.
What to do next
