The Personal Center includes Security Settings, where you can change your password and enable or disable MFA authentication.
Change Password
On the Dataphin Manager homepage, click your profile picture in the top menu bar and select Security Settings.
In the Security Settings dialog box, click Change Password.
In the Change Password dialog box, enter your current password, new password, and confirm password. Password requirements are as follows:
Passwords must contain only uppercase and lowercase English letters, digits, and special characters. They cannot include spaces, must be 6 to 20 characters long, and must include at least two types of characters.
The confirm password must match the new password. Click the
icon to view the password in plaintext.Click OK.
The new password takes effect only after the current password, new password, and confirm password all pass system validation. Use the new password to log on to Dataphin Manager next time.
Virtual MFA
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a simple and effective security best practice that adds an extra layer of protection beyond just a username and password.
After enabling MFA, when you log on to the Alibaba Cloud website, the system prompts you for your username and password (the first factor) and then asks for a dynamic verification code from your MFA device (the second factor). This two-factor authentication provides stronger security for your account.
MFA devices can be hardware-based or software-based. Currently, the Alibaba Cloud website supports software-based virtual MFA. Before using virtual MFA, install the Alibaba Cloud app (scan the QR code on the Alibaba Cloud website to download it), Google Authenticator, or another MFA application supported by Alibaba Cloud.
Besides the Alibaba Cloud app, you can download and install an application from your device’s app store based on your phone type. The following table lists compatible applications for various smartphones:
Phone Type | MFA Application Name |
Android | Google Authenticator (search and download from major app stores) |
iPhone | Google Authenticator |
Windows Phone | Authenticator |
Blackberry | Google Authenticator |
Enable Virtual MFA Authentication
On the Dataphin Manager homepage, click your profile picture in the top menu bar and select Security Settings.
In the Security Settings dialog box, click Enable Virtual MFA.
After enabling virtual MFA, the system generates a key for your account. You can obtain this key by scanning a QR code or entering information manually.
Scan to get the key: On the Scan tab of the logon page, scan the QR code to get the key.
NoteUse an MFA application on your smartphone, such as the Alibaba Cloud app, to scan the code. If the app already has a device with the same name, delete it before scanning again.
Enter information manually: On the Manual Entry tab of the logon page, copy the account name and key.
Attach the virtual MFA device. You must complete this step within 10 minutes after the key is generated.
In the Attach Virtual MFA section of the logon page, enter the 6-digit security code generated by your MFA app after scanning.
Click Confirm Attachment.
When the super_admin user enables virtual MFA, it is enabled for all users. After enabling virtual MFA, all currently logged-on users are forced to log on again. During logon, they must enter their username and password and then authenticate using the virtual MFA device.
Disable Virtual MFA Authentication
On the Dataphin Manager homepage, click your profile picture in the top menu bar and select Security Settings.
In the Security Settings dialog box, click Disable Virtual MFA.
In the Disable Virtual MFA dialog box, click OK, then enter the security code in the Virtual MFA Verification dialog box.
After disabling virtual MFA, all currently logged-on users are forced to log on again. During logon, they no longer need to verify with the virtual MFA device and can log on by entering only their username and password.
