Dataphin:Create and manage quality rule attributes

Last Updated:Jan 13, 2026

You can add custom attributes to quality rules to help you filter, categorize, and manage them. You can apply these attributes directly when you create a quality rule. This topic describes how to create and manage quality rule attributes.

Prerequisites

The Asset Quality module must be enabled to use quality rule attributes.

Permissions

Super administrators, quality administrators, and global roles with the required permissions can create and manage quality rule attributes.

Usage notes

You can create a maximum of 50 quality rule attributes.

Create a quality rule attribute

  1. In the top menu bar of the Dataphin home page, choose Planning > Attribute Management.

  2. On the Attribute Management page, click View Details on the right of the Quality Rule object type card to open the Object Attributes page.

  3. Click Create Attribute. In the Create Quality Rule Attribute dialog box, configure the parameters.

    Parameter

    Description

    Attribute Name

The name of the quality rule attribute. The name must be unique and cannot exceed 128 characters.

    Is Required

Specifies whether this attribute is required. The default value is Yes. You can switch it to No.

    Attribute Field Type

The field type of the attribute. The default value is String/STRING. The field type constrains the value that you can enter for the attribute when you create a quality rule. For example, if you select the Boolean type, you can only select True or False for the attribute. The following types are available:

    • String: STRING.

    • Numeric: BIGINT, DOUBLE (up to 6 decimal places).

    • Boolean: BOOLEAN (The value can be True or False).

    • Date/Time: DATE (yyyy-mm-dd), DATETIME (s).

    Attribute Value Length

If you set Attribute Field Type to String, you can configure the maximum length of the attribute value. The maximum length is 2,000 characters.

    Description

A description of the quality rule attribute. The description cannot exceed 512 characters.

    Input Type

    • The method to enter and store the attribute value when you create a quality rule. The available input types vary based on the selected field type:

      • String: Custom Input, Dropdown Single-select, Dropdown Multi-select.

      • Numeric: Custom Input, Dropdown Single-select, Dropdown Multi-select, Specified Range.

      • Boolean: Dropdown Single-select.

      • Date: Custom Input, Dropdown Single-select, Dropdown Multi-select, Specified Range.

    • The following image shows examples of the attribute card for different input types when you create a quality rule:

    Is Searchable

If the input type is Custom Input, you can specify whether the attribute is searchable. This setting determines whether you can perform a fuzzy search for this attribute in the quality rule list. The default value is No. You can switch it to Yes.

    Option Values

If the input type is Dropdown Single-select or Dropdown Multi-select, you can configure the option values. Separate multiple enumeration values with commas. The total length cannot exceed 10,000 characters.

You can also click Batch Edit. In the Batch Edit Enumeration Options dialog box, enter the enumeration values. Separate multiple values with commas or line breaks. The total length cannot exceed 10,000 characters.

    Is Filterable

If the input type is Dropdown Single-select or Dropdown Multi-select, you can specify whether the attribute is filterable. This setting determines whether you can filter the quality rule list by this attribute. The default value is No. You can switch it to Yes.

    Default Value

The default value of the attribute. When you create a quality rule, this value is automatically filled in for the attribute. This is useful for attributes whose values do not change often. The available default value options vary based on the selected field type and input type.

  4. Click OK to create the quality rule attribute.

Manage quality rule attributes

  1. The Object Attributes page for quality rules displays information about the configured attributes, such as the attribute name, description, requirement status, field type, input type, and default value.

  2. You can perform a fuzzy search by attribute name or filter by Required Attribute.

  3. You can sort, enable or disable, edit, clone, and delete attributes.

    Operation

    Description

    Sort

Determines the display order of business attributes when you create a quality rule.

You can drag the image.png icon next to the attribute name to sort the attributes. You can also use the icons in the Actions column to move an attribute. The icons from left to right are: Move Up, Move Down, Move to Top, and Move to Bottom.

    Enable

If enabled, you can apply the attribute when you create a quality rule. If disabled, the attribute is not displayed in the rule details. However, the configured content is not deleted and is displayed again if you re-enable the attribute. Note that if you edit a quality rule after the attribute is disabled, the configured value of the disabled attribute is deleted.

    View

View the details of a configured attribute.

    Edit

Modify the attribute configuration. After you modify an attribute, check whether the quality rules that use this attribute are consistent with the new attribute specifications. If not, modify the rule configurations.

    Clone

Quickly create a new attribute based on the information of the cloned attribute.

    Delete

After you delete an attribute, its value is deleted from all quality rules that use it. This operation cannot be undone. Evaluate the impact before you proceed.

What to do next

After you create a quality rule attribute, you can apply it when you create a new quality rule. For more information, see Create quality rules.
