Dataphin:Upgrade Configuration - Semi-Managed

If your current Dataphin instance type does not suffice for your business requirements, you can enhance its capabilities by enabling value-added feature packages or upgrading to a higher specification package through the configuration upgrade process.

Limits

The upgrade configuration option is unavailable if you have already purchased the highest specifications for the data processing unit and asset quality of the intelligent R&D version and have activated all optional value-added feature packages.

Upgrade Configuration Conversion Description

  • The expiration time of the newly purchased value-added feature package will align with the expiration time of the currently enabled instance.

  • Purchases of value-added feature packages will be converted to Alibaba Cloud's unified specifications based on the current configuration's expiration time. The conversion logic is as follows:

    Upgrade order price = New configuration remaining duration purchase amount (current configuration monthly unit price ÷ 30 ÷ 24 x remaining duration) - Purchased configuration remaining duration purchase amount (purchased configuration monthly unit price ÷ 30 ÷ 24 x remaining duration)

    Where,Remaining duration = Expiration time of purchased configuration - Time of new configuration purchase.

Upgrade Configuration Rules

Please note that downgrading the Dataphin instance version is not supported.

Value-Added Feature Upgrade Configuration Description

You can enable or upgrade the specifications of value-added feature packages, which include Real-time R&D, Artificial Intelligence For IT Operations, Standard, Asset Quality, Asset Security, Resource Administration, Data Service, OpenAPI, Stream Pipeline, Tag Factory, Registered Scheduling Cluster, Tenant Quantity, Row-Level Permission, Asset Operation, Metadata Center (Metadata Management + Metadata Acquisition).

Value-Added Feature Package

Description

Real-Time R&D

Enables real-time data processing with support for engines such as Alibaba Cloud Real-Time Computing Flink, Apache Flink, and Fusioninsight Flink.

Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations

Enhances the timeliness of business data and system stability, reduces manual operations, and boosts efficiency with features like baseline monitoring and rate limiting configuration.

Data Standard

Facilitates standard creation and management of reference data, linking standards to asset metadata, and integrates with quality monitoring to enhance asset administration throughout various stages.

Asset Quality

Supports data asset quality monitoring from physical and logical perspectives, enabling efficient rule configuration and validation, along with comprehensive quality reports to identify data quality threats.

Asset Security

Secures data assets by setting classification and identification rules, configuring desensitization policies, and providing a comprehensive view of asset security to aid in data security policy formulation and implementation.

Resource Administration

Centers around metadata acquisition and unified metadata model establishment to support application layer data asset management, empowering asset managers and developers to maintain a healthy data asset system.

Data Service

Unifies data subjects through standardized configurations, supports self-service API management, and ensures field-level data usage control, reducing the threshold for business data consumption while maintaining data security.

OpenAPI

OpenAPI serves as Dataphin's external operation interface, enabling data, function, and service sharing across applications and facilitating efficient application development and expansion with a suite of OpenAPI interfaces.

Real-Time Integration

Facilitates incremental data integration from MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL to Hive, Kafka, DataHub, MaxCompute, and enables synchronization from Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2 to Kafka.

Tag Factory

Offers offline and real-time tag development through a visual interface, enhancing the efficiency of tag creation for developers and business personnel with development skills.

Registered Scheduling Cluster

Enables database connections across different networks via a registered scheduling cluster, circumventing cross-network data transfer issues.

Tenant Quantity

Allows for the creation of multiple tenants within a single Dataphin instance, with each tenant utilizing different compute engines.

Row-Level Permission

Grants row-level permission control for tables within compute and data sources.

Asset Operation

Covers asset folder management, asset consumption, and asset folder functions, including:

  • Folder Planning: Organizes assets by subject and configures visibility to streamline global asset management and simplify asset discovery and consumption.

  • Asset Listing: Supports both manual and automatic listing, allowing for the enhancement of asset property information and control over asset visibility permissions during the listing process.

  • Asset Folder and Consumption: Enables viewing of the asset list and supports various search methods, along with access to detailed asset information.

Metadata Center (Metadata Management + Metadata Acquisition)

Facilitates the extraction, processing, centralized storage, and management of metadata from various systems to support data governance and improve the organization's data organization, retrieval, and analysis capabilities.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud official website using your Alibaba Cloud account.

  2. Navigate to Products, then move to Big Data Computing in the left-side navigation pane, and select Data Development And Service under the Intelligent Data Construction And Governance Dataphin section.

  3. On the Dataphin product page, click Management Console/ Enable Now (semi-managed Version) to access the Dataphin Management Console.

  4. On the Dataphin Management Console page, click Purchase Value-added Features after the enabled version details, to enter the instance interface of Compute Nest.

  5. On the service instance product page, click the Modify Configuration button to open the configuration modification dialog box.

  6. In the Modify Configuration dialog box, click Next, select the desired feature modules, and then click Next.

  7. Verify the selected feature modules are correct and click Confirm. Following successful payment, the upgrade and activation of the value-added feature package will commence.

  8. While the Dataphin instance is being upgraded, the Purchase Value-added Features button will be inactive, displaying New Feature Is Being Deployed, View Details when hovered over. Once the upgrade is successful, the Purchase Value-added Features button will be clickable again.

    After a successful upgrade, you may click Purchase Value-added Features to perform another upgrade configuration operation.
