You can configure the lifecycle of a backup schedule based on your business requirements. The lifecycle of a backup schedule indicates the retention period of backup sets that are generated based on the backup schedule. This topic describes how to modify the lifecycle of a backup schedule.

Prerequisites

A backup schedule is created in the Database Backup (DBS) console, or a default physical backup schedule is generated for an ApsaraDB RDS instance that is automatically connected to DBS. You cannot modify the lifecycles of backup schedules that are generated for cross-region ApsaraDB RDS backups in the DBS console. For more information, see FAQ about backup schedules for cross-region ApsaraDB RDS backups.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the DBS console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Backup Schedules. The Backup Schedules page appears.
  2. Find the backup schedule that you want to manage and click Manage in the Actions column. The Configure Task page appears.
  3. In the Lifecycle Information section, click Edit Lifecycle.
  4. Specify the lifecycles for full and incremental backup data and click Save.
Note You can specify a lifecycle in the range of 7 to 3,650 days. Backup sets are automatically deleted after the retention period expires.
