When you create an agent, you must associate the agent with an existing tunnel. This topic describes how to create a tunnel.
Background information
A tunnel can be associated with multiple agents at a time. You can specify the maximum bandwidth of the tunnel and the maximum number of requests per second over the tunnel to throttle the overall transmission for the agents associated with the tunnel.
Create a tunnel
Important
- You must create a tunnel and an agent if you want to migrate data to Alibaba Cloud over an Express Connect circuit or a VPN gateway, or migrate data from a self-managed storage space to Alibaba Cloud.
- Each region can contain up to 10 tunnels. We recommend that you properly plan and use your tunnels.
- Log on to the Data Online Migration console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, choose . On the Tunnel Management page, click Create Tunnel.
- In the Create Tunnel dialog box, configure the parameters that are described in the following table and click OK.
Parameter Required Description Name Yes The name of the tunnel. - The name cannot be empty and can be up to 100 characters in length.
- The name can contain letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).
Maximum Bandwidth Yes The maximum bandwidth that the tunnel can use. - If you do not specify this parameter, the default value 0 is used, which indicates that the bandwidth for the tunnel is not limited.
- If you specify this parameter, the maximum bandwidth must range from 80 Mbit/s to 100 Gbit/s.
Important The bandwidth that is available for the tunnel depends on the actual bandwidth of the network connection.Requests/s Yes The maximum number of requests per second over the tunnel. - If you do not specify this parameter, the default value 0 is used, which indicates that the number of requests per second over the tunnel is not limited.
- If you specify this parameter, the maximum number of requests per second over the tunnel must range from 100 to 100,000.
Warning We recommend that you carefully evaluate the capabilities of the storage system of the data source before you specify this parameter. If the number of requests per second over the tunnel is greater than 10,000, your business is affected. Therefore, we recommend that you allow less than 10,000 requests per second over the tunnel.
