This topic describes how to migrate data between Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) buckets that are owned by the same account or different accounts and deployed in the same region or different regions.
Overview
Data Online Migration is a data channel between different storage services of Alibaba Cloud. You can use Data Online Migration to migrate data from third-party data stores to OSS or between OSS buckets.
To use Data Online Migration, you need to specify information about the source data address and destination OSS address in the console, and then create a migration task. After the migration task starts, you can manage the task in the console. For example, you can view the progress and traffic information of the task.

Migration process
The following figure shows the migration process:
To ensure data security and consistency, we recommend that you use HTTPS.
After a data migration task is complete, you must check whether the data at the destination data address is consistent with the data at the source data address.
Make sure that you verify the migrated data at the destination after the migration task is complete. If you delete the data at the source data address before you verify the migrated data at the destination data address, you are liable for the losses and consequences caused by any data loss.
Process of creating a migration task
The following figure shows how to create a migration task:
If the data address resides in the same region as the region that you select in the console, we recommend that you use the internal endpoint. If you select internal endpoints when you create the source and destination data addresses, data is uploaded and downloaded over the Alibaba Cloud internal network. In this case, you are not charged for traffic fees.
If the data address does not reside in the same region as the region that you select in the console, you can use only the public endpoint. If you select public endpoints when you create the source and destination data addresses, data is uploaded and downloaded over the Internet. During data migration, you are charged for downstream traffic fees on the migration source, but you are not charged for uploading data.
You must restore Archive or Cold Archive objects before you create a task to migrate data between OSS buckets.
