Data Management:Change the control mode of an instance

Last Updated:Mar 28, 2024

Data Management (DMS) allows you to configure the control mode of an instance. If you want to export a large amount of data from your database or query the data change operations that are performed on your database on the SQLConsole tab over an extended period of time, you can change the control mode of your database instance based on your business requirements.

Prerequisites

You are a database administrator (DBA) or a DMS administrator.

Usage notes

DMS provides three control modes for you to manage instances: Flexible Management, Stable Change, and Security Collaboration. For more information, see the Overview section of the "Control modes" topic.

  • The database connections are not affected when you change the control mode of an instance.

  • If an instance is managed in Flexible Management mode, you can use the instance free of charge. If an instance is managed in Stable Change or Security Collaboration mode, you are charged for the instance. For more information, see Pricing.

  • You can change the control mode of an instance from Flexible Management to Stable Change or Security Collaboration to use more features that are provided by DMS. For more information about the supported features, see Control modes.

  • Make sure that you have purchased the corresponding control mode before you change the control mode of an instance. For more information, see Purchase the DMS service.

    Note

If you change the control mode to Security Collaboration, you must select a security rule.
