Cloud Hardware Security Module (Cloud HSM) uses subscription billing. Pay upfront for the duration you need — no overdue charges, no hidden fees.
Billing method
Cloud HSM fees follow this formula: Total fee = Unit price × Quantity × Subscription duration.
Unit price: See the HSM buy page for standard HSM pricing, or the Dedicated HSM buy page for dedicated instance pricing.
Quantity: No limit on how many HSMs to purchase. For high availability, purchase at least two HSMs.
Subscription duration: Choose a duration based on your business needs.
Expiration policy

| 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before expiration | Alibaba Cloud sends renewal reminders by email. |
| Within 15 days after expiration | Data is retained, but the instance stops. Renew to resume. |
| Within 15 days after the instance stops | Instance is unavailable, but data is retained. Renew to resume. |
| Day 16 after the instance stops | All data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Purchase a new instance to use Cloud HSM again. |
Back up your HSM data before expiration. If your instance is deleted without a valid backup, data decryption fails and the loss is permanent. For instructions, see Data backup and recovery (for HSMs in the Chinese mainland) or Data backup and recovery (for HSMs outside the Chinese mainland).
Overdue payments
Cloud HSM uses subscription billing, so you pay upfront. No overdue payments occur. Before purchasing or renewing, make sure your account balance is sufficient.
Renewal
Renew in either of the following ways:
Expenses and Costs console: See Renew an expired resource.
Cloud HSM console: Follow the steps below.
To renew in the Cloud HSM console:
Log on to the Cloud Hardware Security Module console. In the top navigation bar, select the required region.
On the VSMs page, in the Actions column of the target instance, click the
icon and then click Renew.On the Renew page, set the Subscription Period and confirm the Terms of Service.
Click Buy Now to complete the payment.
Unsubscription
Cloud HSM does not support refunds.
