The Instances page is the central hub for managing your Cloud Storage Gateway (CSG) gateways. From here, you can view all gateway instances, check their status, and perform operations such as creating, starting, stopping, and deleting gateways.
On the Instances page, you can:
Create NFS, SMB, or iSCSI gateways and configure storage capacity and cache settings
Monitor the real-time status of each gateway instance
Start, stop, or delete gateway instances
Navigate to file shares, iSCSI volumes, and monitoring details for each gateway
Upgrade gateway software and manage gateway settings
Gateway status reference
Each gateway instance displays a status in the Status column. Use this table to interpret the status and determine the appropriate action.

Manage gateway instances
The following operations are available on the Instances page.
[Create a gateway](): Create a new NFS, SMB, or iSCSI gateway. Specify the gateway name, type, region, and cache disk settings during creation.
[Start or stop a gateway](): Temporarily pause a gateway's operations without deleting it. Stopping a gateway suspends all data transfer and protocol services.
[Delete a gateway](): Permanently remove a gateway instance and its associated configuration. This action cannot be undone.
[Upgrade a gateway](): Update the gateway software to the latest version to access new features and security patches.
[View gateway details](): Access configuration details, connected file shares, iSCSI volumes, bandwidth settings, and monitoring metrics for a specific gateway.
Stop or start a gateway
Stopping a gateway suspends all NFS, SMB, and iSCSI protocol services. If clients are actively reading or writing data when you stop the gateway, those operations may fail. Before stopping the gateway, verify that no active data transfer tasks are in progress.
To stop a gateway:
Log on to the Cloud Storage Gateway console.
In the left navigation pane, click Instances.
Find the target gateway and confirm that its status is
Running. In the Actions column, choose More > Stop.
In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
The gateway status changes to Stopping, then to Stopped when the operation completes.
To start a stopped gateway:
Find the target gateway and confirm that its status is
Stopped. In the Actions column, choose More > Start.
Wait for the status to change to
Running.
Delete a gateway
Deleting a gateway permanently removes the gateway instance and all its configuration, including file share settings and iSCSI volume mappings. This action cannot be undone. Data stored in the associated OSS bucket is not deleted, but you lose access to it through this gateway.
To delete a gateway:
Log on to the Cloud Storage Gateway console.
In the left navigation pane, click Instances.
Find the target gateway and confirm that its status is
Stopped. In the Actions column, choose More > Delete.
In the confirmation dialog box, enter the gateway name to confirm, then click OK.
