The capacity that you configure when you create a CPFS for Lingjun file system is its initial capacity. If the file system becomes full, you cannot write new data. To prevent write failures from impacting your services, you can scale out the file system before it is full. This topic describes how to scale out a CPFS for Lingjun file system.
Prerequisites
You have created a file system. For more information, see Create a file system.
Precautions
The CPFS for Lingjun file system must be in the Running state. Scale-out is not supported for file systems in other states.
CPFS for Lingjun file systems support only scale-out, not scale-in. The scaling step size is 10,240 GiB. You can scale out the capacity to 1 PiB. You can create a file system with a maximum capacity of 20 PiB. To create a file system of this size, you can submit a ticket.
When file system usage is high, performance may degrade due to a high degree of file fragmentation. We recommend that you scale out the file system before its usage reaches 90%.
During a scale-out operation, CPFS may automatically balance data to optimize storage distribution. This balancing process consumes some disk and network bandwidth, which can cause a temporary and slight decrease in performance.
