The global monitoring feature provided by Alibaba Cloud Distributed Cloud Container Platform (ACK One) uses Managed Service for Prometheus to collect the metrics of different clusters, aggregates these metrics, and then displays global monitoring information about these clusters on a dashboard. This way, you can view the metrics of different clusters on one dashboard. This topic describes how to enable the global monitoring feature for a Fleet instance and view the global monitoring information.
Prerequisites
The Fleet management feature is enabled. For more information, see Enable Fleet management.
Two clusters (the service provider cluster and service consumer cluster) are associated with the Fleet instance. For more information, see Associate clusters with a Fleet instance.
Background information
Due to business development, an enterprise may need to create multiple Kubernetes clusters for resource isolation, high availability, and disaster recovery. However, the monitoring system can display only one Kubernetes cluster at a time. In daily O&M work, engineers may need to frequently switch between clusters to view the cluster metrics and compare the metrics of different clusters to diagnose cluster exceptions. ACK One provides the global monitoring feature for multi-cluster management. This feature allows you to view the metrics of different clusters on one dashboard.
Terms
Associated cluster: all associated clusters within your Alibaba Cloud account. You can add associated clusters to global monitoring or remove associated clusters from global monitoring. To add an associated cluster to global monitoring, make sure that the Managed Service for Prometheus agent is installed in the associated cluster.
Procedure
Log on to the ACK One console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Global Monitoring page, click Enable Global Monitoring. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.
NoteYou need to turn on the switch only for the first time you use the global monitoring feature.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Fleet > Associated Clusters. If no associated cluster is added to global monitoring, click Add to Global Monitoring in the Actions column.
After you add an associated cluster to global monitoring, the Global Monitoring column of the cluster displays Added.
