Cloud Monitor:What can I do if Cloud Monitor fails to identify multiple hosts that are deployed by using the same image?

Multiple third-party hosts deployed from the same image share an identical serial number, which prevents CloudMonitor from distinguishing between them. Delete the serial number on each affected host to fix this issue.

When the CloudMonitor plug-in is installed on a host deployed from an image, the plug-in automatically generates a serial_number to uniquely identify that host. Hosts deployed from the same image inherit the same serial_number, so CloudMonitor cannot distinguish between them.

To resolve this, delete the existing serial number on each affected host based on its operating system. The plug-in generates a new unique identifier the next time it starts.

  • Windows

    Delete the key-value pair serial_number in the Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\cloudmonitor directory of the registry.

  • Linux

    Delete the serial_number.properties file in the /etc/cloudmonitor directory.
