CloudMonitor alerts you when your API call quota, alert text message quota, or alert voice call quota is exhausted or nearly exhausted. This topic explains what triggers each quota and how to resolve it.
This topic applies only to users who activated CloudMonitor Basic (pay-as-you-go) (cms_basic_public_cn) and purchased a resource plan of alert text messages (cms_sms_dp_cn) and a resource plan of alert voice calls (cms_voice_dp_cn) after 22:00:00 (UTC+8) on September 13, 2022.

API calls for metric data queries
What consumes API call quota
API call quota is consumed by programmatic access to CloudMonitor metric data. Console operations do not count against this quota.
The free quota applies to calls to these four APIs:
Two sources consume this quota:
Direct API calls. Calling these APIs directly counts against your quota. Calls made through the CloudMonitor console do not.
Grafana plugins. CloudMonitor Grafana plugins that visualize monitoring data also consume API call quota. For more information, see Use Grafana to view monitoring data.
If the free quota is exhausted, Alibaba Cloud services cannot be queried for metric data through API operations.

Text message quota is consumed each time CloudMonitor sends an alert notification by text message. Alert rules and event subscriptions that use text message notifications count against this quota.
