Last Updated:Aug 27, 2026

After you back up files from an ECS instance to a Cloud Backup

Important

You can no longer add instances that use the old version of the backup client. Use the new version to back up your ECS instances for enhanced features and a better user experience. You can upgrade existing instances from the old version by clicking the Upgrade

Prerequisites

You have backed up files from your ECS instance, and at least one backup is available. For more information, see Back up ECS files.

Same-region restore

  1. Log on to the Cloud Backup console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Back Up.

  3. In the upper-left corner, select the region where the backup vault is located.

  4. On the ECS File Backup page, click Go to Old Version.

  5. On the ECS Instance

        folder

The steps for configuring the restore policy are the same as for restoring from the current ECS instance.

Cross-region restore

A backup vault is a repository in Cloud Backup that stores backup data. For disaster recovery, you can use a mirror vault to restore ECS files to a different region.

To perform a cross-region restore, you must first create a mirror vault. For more information, see Cross-region backup.

Follow these steps:

  1. Log on to the Cloud Backup console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Back Up.

  3. In the upper-left corner, select the region where the mirror vault is located.

  4. On the ECS File Backup page, click Go to Old Version.

  5. On the ECS Instance

    Note

You must select a mirror vault. Mirror vault names contain the [COPY] suffix. For information about other client installation parameters, see Install backup clients on a few ECS instances.
