Because the Cloud Backup client lacks permission to read data from SMB file systems on NAS, Cloud Backup cannot back up data. To resolve this, you must grant the Cloud Backup client read permission for SMB file systems on NAS. This topic explains how to grant the Cloud Backup client this permission on Windows.
Prerequisites
You have installed the Cloud Backup client.
Background information
We recommend granting Cloud Backup permission to access the SMB NAS file system through the Windows service on a Windows system in the following scenarios:
The account used to install the backup client does not have permissions to access the SMB file system because Active Directory (AD) permission control is implemented on the file system.
The local system account used to install the HBR client does not have permissions to access the SMB file system.
Procedure
Perform the following steps to grant the Cloud Backup client permissions to read files.
You can connect to an ECS instance or log on to a local server.
