This topic describes the common high-risk operations that you may perform when you use Cloud Backup and the possible impacts.

Important

High-risk operations on Cloud Backup include but are not limited to the following operations. When you perform related operations, you must carefully read the instructions and precautions in the documentation and proceed with caution to prevent unexpected risks.

Impact

Delete an Cloud Backup client

The following operations are included:

  • Database backup in Windows: Click Unregister Instance in the Actions column of a database instance

  • SAP HANA backup: Click Delete in the Actions column of an SAP HANA instance

  • ECS file backup: Click Delete Backup in the Actions column of an ECS instance

  • On-premises file backup: Click Delete Backup in the Actions column of a client

All backup data generated by the Cloud Backup client is deleted and cannot be restored.

Warning

Before you uninstall an Cloud Backup client, check the client installation path:

  • If a NAS file system is mounted to the installation path, run the umount command to unmount the NAS file system. This prevents the file system from being accidentally deleted.

  • If other important directories and files exist in the installation path, move them to another path. This prevents these directories and files from being accidentally deleted.

After a backup policy is disabled, all backup jobs associated with the backup policy are no longer executed, and the corresponding data sources are no longer protected.

Delete a backup point

The backup data corresponding to the backup point cannot be restored.

Delete a backup vault

All backup data in the backup vault is deleted and cannot be restored.
