ApsaraDB for ClickHouse:Multi-zone high availability

Last Updated:Apr 17, 2025

ApsaraDB for ClickHouse allows you to deploy clusters across multiple zones. Compared with single-zone deployment, multi-zone deployment provides higher disaster recovery capabilities and can effectively respond to data center-level failures. ApsaraDB for ClickHouse supports multiple deployment modes, such as single-zone deployment and multi-zone deployment. This topic describes the high availability architecture in multi-zone deployment.

Community-compatible Edition

When you deploy a Community-compatible Edition cluster across multiple zones, the keeper and server nodes of the cluster are distributed across three different zones to ensure that the two replicas of the same shard are located in different zones. If one zone fails, the server and keeper nodes in other zones can still provide services.

Limits

For more information about the regions that support multi-zone deployment, see Regions and zones.

The following diagram shows the deployment architecture of three shards.

Enterprise Edition

When you deploy an Enterprise Edition cluster across multiple zones, the keeper and server nodes of the cluster are distributed across three different zones. Object Storage Service (OSS) also stores data across three different zones based on a zone-redundant architecture. If one zone fails, the server and keeper nodes in other zones can still provide services.
