When you change the specifications of an ApsaraDB for ClickHouse cluster, the additional charges depend on your billing method. This page explains how fees are calculated for each billing method.
Subscription clusters
Charges differ depending on whether you change specifications during an active subscription period or at renewal.
Specification changes within the subscription period
Only the incremental cost is charged — the difference between the new and old daily cluster cost, multiplied by the number of days remaining until expiration:
Scale-out costs = (Daily costs of the cluster after scale-out − Daily costs of the cluster before scale-out) × Number of days from the scale-out date to the expiration dateThe daily cost after the specification change is determined by the remaining subscription period:
| Remaining days to expiration | Daily cost after specification change |
|---|---|
| Less than 365 days | Monthly subscription price ÷ number of days in the month |
| 365 days or more | Yearly subscription price ÷ number of days in the year |
Renewal and specification changes upon expiration
When your subscription expires and you renew with new specifications, the cluster is billed based on the new specifications and the new subscription period (months or years).
Pay-as-you-go clusters
After a specification change, the cluster is still billed on an hourly basis. Fees are calculated based on the new cluster specifications.
