Chat App Message Service:Best practices for Marketing Messages Lite (MML)

On April 1, 2025, WhatsApp introduces Marketing Messages Lite (MML), a new category of optimized marketing messages. MML helps businesses enhance performance and message quality by automatically optimizing for delivery and engagement, which improves user experience and business outcomes.

Key features of MML messages

  • Event tracking: Businesses can track when a marketing message drives users to perform specific in-app actions, such as purchases or searches.

  • Improved delivery rate: MML messages achieve a delivery rate that is equal to or better than that of standard marketing messages.

How to send MML messages

To send MML messages, first register on the embedded page by following these steps:

  1. Log on to the Chat App Message Service console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Channel Management. Click the target channel to go to the channel details page.

  3. On the channel details page, click WABA Management in the navigation pane on the left.

  4. In the Actions column, click MML Authorization.

  5. In the pop-up, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the authorization.

Important
  • After you register for MML, you can send MML messages to supported countries and regions.

  • Starting April 1, 2025, registering for MML automatically authorizes all WhatsApp Business Accounts (WABAs) under your Meta Business Manager to send MML messages.

Important notes

  • Before April 1, 2025, MML messages are only available in the following countries and regions: Brazil, Mexico, India, Indonesia, Chile, Peru, Singapore, and Hong Kong (China). Starting April 1, 2025, MML will be supported in all countries and regions where WhatsApp Business messages are available.

Note

Before April 1, 2025, to register for MML, your business must be registered in one of the countries or regions listed above. You can only send MML messages to users in these locations. MML messages sent to other countries or regions are automatically converted to standard marketing messages.

  • Starting May 1, 2025, to create a new marketing template in the Chat App Message Service, you must register for MML.

  • Starting July 1, 2025, to send marketing messages through the Chat App Message Service, you must register for MML.

  • No extra steps are required. To send MML messages, call the existing message sending APIs.
