Chat App Message Service:Create multi-language templates using AI translation

Use AI translation in Chat App Message Service to automatically generate multi-language WhatsApp message templates from a saved source template.

Note

AI Translation supports only marketing and utility templates for WhatsApp channels.

Use cases

AI translation fits these scenarios:

  • Create a template in one language and generate other language versions.

  • Add language versions to an existing template.

  • Keep multiple language versions of the same template consistent.

Limitations

  • The source language must have saved content.

  • Review and edit translated content before submitting the template for platform review or deployment.

Use AI translation

Use AI translation during template creation or when adding a language to an existing template.

Method 1: During template creation

Save a template in one language, then use AI translation to generate other language versions.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Chat App Message Service console.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click Channel Management.

  3. On the Channel Management page, find the WhatsApp channel that you want to manage and click its Channel ID or Manage.

  4. On the channel details page, choose Template Design > Create Template.

  5. Specify a template name, category, and language, and then click OK.

  6. Edit the template content and click Save.

    After saving, the AI Translation button becomes available.

  7. Click AI Translation.

  8. In the dialog box, set these parameters:

    • Select Source Language: Select a saved language version.

    • Target Language: Select the language to translate into.

  9. Click Start Translation.

    A new language tab is created with translated content. If translation fails, click Retry.

  10. In the Language list on the left, select the translated language and verify the result. Edit if needed.

  11. Click Save.

Note
  • Use a language version with complete, accurate content as the source.

  • After translation, verify brand names, proper nouns, variable placeholders, and special terms.

Method 2: Add a language to an existing template

Add a new language version to an existing template and translate its content in one step.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Chat App Message Service console.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click Channel Management.

  3. On the Channel Management page, find the WhatsApp channel that you want to manage and click its Channel ID or Manage.

  4. On the Template Design page, find the template that you want to edit and click its name or click Edit in the Actions column.

  5. In the language list on the left, click + Add Language.

  6. In the dialog box, select the Target Language and choose whether to Use AI Translation:

    • Do Not Use: Creates a blank template for the target language. Enter the content manually and click Confirm.

    • Use: Enables AI Translation. A Select Source Language field appears. Select a source language with saved content and click Use AI Translation.

  7. The system generates translated content for the target language from the source.

  8. Verify the translation and edit if needed.

  9. Click Save.

Use this method to:

  • Add language versions to an existing template.

  • Expand multi-language support by country or region.

  • Maintain international message content from existing templates.

Best practices

Start with the primary language

Save the primary language template before generating other versions with AI translation. This ensures consistent structure and meaning across languages.

Use high-quality source content

Translation quality depends on source quality. Use a template with clear logic, complete content, and consistent expressions as the source.

Verify translated content

Manually verify the following after translation:

  • Brand names

  • Product names

  • Fixed business terms

  • Legal or compliance-related statements

  • Variables and parameter placeholders

  • Notification content for important customers or critical business scenarios

FAQ

Why can't I select a source language?

The source language must have saved content. Verify that:

  • You have saved the content for that language version.

  • At least one saved language version exists in the current template.

Save the content for a language version before using it as a translation source.

Can I use an unsaved language as the source?

No. The source language must have saved content.

Why is AI translation unavailable?

AI translation supports only WhatsApp marketing and utility templates. Verify that your template meets these requirements.

Can I edit content after AI translation?
