Cloud Data Transfer:Terms

Last Updated:Apr 22, 2024

This topic describes terms related to Cloud Data Transfer (CDT).

tiered pricing

A tiered pricing mechanism is set for data transfers. Unit prices of the data transfers vary based on the tiers that are set for the data transfers. You can multiply the amount of the used data transfers in a tier by the unit price that is set for this tier, and then sum the fees calculated based on the tiered prices.

Example: You used 180 TB of Internet data transfers over Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) lines in the China (Beijing) region in May 2023. The following table describes the fees that are calculated based on the tiers of the data transfers.

Tier of data transfers (TB)

Unit price for the data transfers in the China (Beijing) region (USD/GB)

Fee (USD)

0 TB < Monthly data transfers ≤ 10 TB

0.118

10 × 1,024 GB × USD 0.118/GB = USD 1,208.32

10 TB < Monthly data transfers ≤ 50 TB

0.111

(50 - 10) × 1,024 GB × USD 0.111/GB = USD 4,546.56

50 TB < Monthly data transfers ≤ 150 TB

0.103

(150 - 50) × 1,024 GB × USD 0.103/GB = USD 10,547.2

Monthly data transfers > 150 TB

0.096

(180 - 150) × 1,024 GB × USD 0.096/GB = USD 2,949.12

The amount of used data transfers reaches 180 TB, which is in Tier 4. The fee that you must pay for the data transfers used in May 2023 is calculated by using the following equation: 10 × 1,024 GB × USD 0.118/GB + (50 - 10) × 1,024 GB × USD 0.111/GB + (150 - 50) × 1,024 GB × USD 0.103/GB + (180 - 150) × 1,024 GB × USD 0.096/GB = USD 19,251.2.
