Before you use Cloud Data Transfer (CDT), make sure that you understand the limits of this service.
Limits on connected services
After you enable Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) for cloud services, all existing and new pay-by-data-transfer instances are all billed by CDT. Pay-by-bandwidth instances continue to be billed by the original Alibaba Cloud services.
When you enable the pay-by-data-transfer metering method for cross-border data transfers for the first time, make sure that your Alibaba Cloud account has completed enterprise real-name registration. For more information, see How do I complete real-name verification?
CDT supports only billing for Alibaba Cloud services. If you want to perform operations such as configuration upgrade, configuration downgrade, or throttling, you must perform the operations in the console of the corresponding Alibaba Cloud service.
Limits on billing
CDT collects statistics about Internet data transfers by region on a monthly basis and generates bills for the Internet data transfers in each region based on tiered pricing. The unit prices may vary based on the amount of data transfers in each region.
Cross-region data transfers are not billed based on tiered pricing.
The billing cycle for tiered pricing is one calendar month. Internet data transfers are reset to 0 at the beginning of each month.
