    Valued Alibaba Cloud customers, beginning 00:00:00 on April 8, 2024, the quota on free Internet data transfers provided by Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) is increased from 20 GB per month to 200 GB per month. This adjustment is applicable to Internet data transfers over BGP (Multi-ISP) lines used by pay-by-data-transfer instances of nine cloud services.

    Internet data transfers provided by CDT

    The free quota is 200 GB per month, which includes the following parts:

    • 20 GB per month in global regions, including the Chinese mainland

    • 180 GB per month in regions outside the Chinese mainland

    BGP (Multi-ISP)

    Internet data transfers generated by pay-by-data-transfer instances of the following nine Alibaba Cloud services:

    • Elastic Compute Service (ECS)

    • Elastic IP address (EIP)

    • Function Compute

    • Classic Load Balancer (CLB)

    • Internet Shared Bandwidth

    • IPv6 Gateway

    • Anycast EIP

    • Global Accelerator (GA)

    • Cloud-native API Gateway

    How to obtain a free quota

    • If you did not activate CDT before 00:00:00 on April 8, 2024: You are offered 200 GB of free Internet data transfers per month upon the activation of CDT.

    • If you activated CDT before 00:00:00 on April 8, 2024: The quota on free Internet data transfers is automatically upgraded from 20 GB per month to 200 GB per month.

    How to use a free quota

    Log on to the CDT console and click Activate Now to activate CDT as prompted. For more information, see Getting Started.

    Note

    • After you activate CDT and use CDT to bill data transfers for Alibaba Cloud services, all existing pay-by-data-transfer instances and pay-by-data-transfer instances created after the activation of CDT are automatically billed by CDT. Pay-by-bandwidth instances are still billed by the Alibaba Cloud services to which the instances belong. You can query your CDT bills on the Bill Details page in the Expenses and Costs console.

    • Check whether you have a pay-by-data-transfer instance. If you only activate CDT but do not have a pay-by-data-transfer instance, the quota on free Internet data transfers is not in use.

    • The query of bills for free Internet data transfers is supported. In the bills for Internet data transfers in CDT, if you find that an instance has data transfers with tier 0 or find data transfers with a unit price of 0, such data transfers enjoy the benefit of free Internet data transfers. Internet data transfers exceeding the free quota are billed according to the tiered unit prices in CDT.
