Billing overview

Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) uses pay-as-you-go billing to aggregate and bill data transfers across Alibaba Cloud products by region.

Note
  • Once enabled, CDT automatically bills data transfers for all existing and new pay-by-data-transfer instances. When new products are onboarded to CDT, their pay-by-data-transfer instances are billed automatically. Check the CDT console for supported products.

  • If your ECS instance is in a virtual private cloud (VPC), CDT billing applies. If your ECS instance uses the classic network, CDT billing does not apply. You can Migrate ECS instances from the classic network to a VPC to be billed by CDT.

Billing method

CDT uses pay-as-you-go billing with these features:

  • Aggregates Internet data transfers from multiple Alibaba Cloud services per region and applies tiered pricing.

  • Bills cross-region data transfers using pay-by-data-transfer metering. Tiered pricing is not supported.

  • CDT only handles data transfer billing. To upgrade, downgrade, or change the billing method of an instance, use the console of the respective Alibaba Cloud product.

The following table lists supported products and their billing rules by traffic type.
