Cloud Architect Design Tools:Create an ECS instance from a custom image

Last Updated:Jun 16, 2026

Cloud Architect Design Tools (CADT) allows you to create ECS instances from custom images, so you can deploy pre-configured environments without manual setup.

Prerequisites

A custom image must exist in the target region. If you do not have one, see Create a custom imageCreate a custom image.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Cloud Architect Design Tools (CADT) console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, choose New > Application. This example creates an ECS instance in a single region and single zone.

From the Quick Start panel on the left, drag the single region and single zone node to the canvas.

In the search bar, enter ECS, then drag the ECS node into the vSwitch on the canvas.

  3. Double-click each resource icon to configure the region, VPC, and vSwitch in order. When you configure the ECS instance, pay attention to the following parameters:

    • Image: Double-click the ECS node and select Custom Image in the details panel.

    • Image Version: CADT automatically syncs all custom images in the selected region. Select the image you want to use.

      Note

Data synchronization can take some time. If your custom image is not listed, wait 5 to 10 minutes, refresh the page, and try again.

  4. After you complete the configuration, click Save and then Deploy Application. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the deployment.
