Bastionhost:Log backup

Bastionhost automatically backs up your Operations and Maintenance (O&M) session logs once per calendar month. With log backup, you can:

  • Download monthly backup files for offline audit or compliance review

  • Create a manual backup covering any time range within the last 180 days

  • Select which content types to include in a manual backup

  • Delete manual backups to free up quota when needed

Backup files are downloaded in CSV format.

Backup content types

Each backup can include one or more of the following content types:

File TransferFile transfer logs from O&M sessions
Graphic TextRemote Desktop Protocol (RDP) session content captured as graphic text

Limitations

  • Manual backups are limited to 30 files. If you reach the limit, delete existing manual backups before creating new ones.

  • Manual backups cover sessions within the last 180 days.

  • Automatic backups cannot be deleted and are not subject to a quantity limit.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

Create a manual backup

  1. Log on to the Bastionhost console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your instance is located.

  2. In the instance list, find the target instance and click Manage.

  3. In the left navigation pane, choose O&M Audit > Session Audit.

  4. On the Session Audit page, click the Log Backup tab.

  5. In the Manual Backup section, fill in the backup details and click Create Log Backup.

    Backup File NameA unique name for the backup file. Maximum 128 characters.
    Time RangeThe start and end time for the backup. Must be within the last 180 days.
    Backup ContentThe content types to include: Commands, File Transfer, and Graphic Text. Select at least one. All three are selected by default.

Download a log backup

  1. Log on to the Bastionhost console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your instance is located.

  2. In the instance list, find the target instance and click Manage.

  3. In the left navigation pane, choose O&M Audit > Session Audit.

  4. On the Session Audit page, click the Log Backup tab.

  5. Find the backup you want to download and click Download in the Actions column.

The backup file is downloaded to your computer in CSV format.

Delete a manual backup

Note

Only manual backups can be deleted. Automatic backups cannot be deleted.

  1. Log on to the Bastionhost console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your instance is located.

  2. In the instance list, find the target instance and click Manage.

  3. In the left navigation pane, choose O&M Audit > Session Audit.

  4. On the Session Audit page, click the Log Backup tab.

  5. Find the manual backup you want to delete and click Delete in the Actions column.
