Bastionhost:Log backup

Last Updated:Nov 24, 2025

Bastionhost provides the log backup feature to help you better manage Operations and Maintenance (O&M) logs. O&M logs are automatically backed up to a log file each calendar month, and you can download these files on demand. You can also manually create a log backup for a specific time range. This topic describes how to manually create and download a log backup.

Data types

Bastionhost performs log backups on a monthly basis. The backups include SSH character commands, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) graphic text, and file transfer logs. You can also perform manual backups and select the content to back up based on your requirements.

Note

You can retain a maximum of 30 manual backup files. If this limit is reached, you cannot create new manual log backups. This limit does not affect automatic backups.

Manually create a backup

  1. Log on to the Bastionhost console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your Bastionhost instance is located.

  2. In the list of Bastionhost instances, find the target instance and click Manage.

  3. In the navigation pane on the left, choose O&M Audit > Session Audit.

  4. On the Session Audit page, click the Log Backup tab.

  5. In the Manual Backup section, enter the backup information and click Create Log Backup.

    1. Backup File Name: Enter a unique name for the log backup file. The name can be up to 128 characters long.

    2. Time Range: Specify the start time and end time for the backup. You can select a time range within the last 180 days.

    3. Backup Content: Select the content to back up. Options include Commands, File Transfer, and Graphic Text. You must select at least one option. By default, all options are selected.
