Bastionhost:Add a remote client

Last Updated:Mar 31, 2026

A remote client is a browser or desktop application — such as Google Chrome or a database client tool — installed on an application server. Bastionhost uses it as the launch point for controlled access to applications running on that server. Before creating applications in your bastion host, register at least one remote client.

Only remote clients with Client Type set to Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox support application account configuration and access policies.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

Limits

Each application server supports up to 50 remote clients.

Register a remote client

  1. Log on to the Bastionhost console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your bastion host resides.

  2. In the bastion host list, find the target bastion host and click Manage.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Assets > Applications.

  4. On the Remote Client tab, click Create Remote Client, configure the parameters, and then click OK.

    ParameterDescription
Client NameA name for the remote client. Length: 1–128 characters. Cannot start with a special character. Accepted special characters: periods (.), underscores (_), hyphens (-), backslashes (\), and spaces.
Application ServerThe application server to associate with this remote client.
Client TypeThe type of remote client. Select Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to enable application account configuration and access policy assignment.
Client PathThe full installation path of the remote client on the application server — not your local machine. Example: C:\chrome.exe.
ParametersRuntime parameters passed to the client at startup. Required only if the client needs specific flags.
