Bastionhost:Application O&M FAQ

Last Updated:Nov 04, 2025

How do I transfer files during O&M on web assets using Bastionhost?

When you access a web app using Bastionhost, the browser may display the message "Your administrator has blocked access to local files on your computer." This prevents you from uploading or downloading files. To enable file transfers, you must modify the registry parameters on the application server.

Note
  • File transfer is not supported for web-based O&M.

  • Control policies cannot restrict drive or disk mapping, or the clipboard feature for Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) O&M.

Log on to the application server and modify its registry parameters as follows:

  1. Open the Registry Editor.

Press Win+R, enter regedit, and press Enter. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome.

  2. To allow file downloads or uploads, modify the download and upload restrictions.

    Modify download restrictions

Double-click DownloadRestrictions and set its value to 0.

    Note

After you download a file from the browser, click the folder icon to open Resource Manager. You can then use the clipboard or disk mapping to transfer the file to your local computer.

    Modify upload restrictions

Double-click AllowFileSelectionDialogs and set its value to 1.

    Note

After you make this change, you can use the clipboard or disk mapping to upload files from your local server to Resource Manager on the application server.
