Backup and Disaster Recovery Center:Get started with BDRC

Last Updated:Dec 13, 2024

Backup and Disaster Recovery Center (BDRC) allows you to check the disaster recovery status of Alibaba Cloud resources with ease, identify risks, and take proper measures to fix the risks. This topic describes how to get started with BDRC.

Procedure

To manage data and implement disaster recovery in the BDRC console, perform the following steps:

  1. Activate BDRC.

You are not charged for activating BDRC or performing operations, such as scanning, scoring, and risk fixing, in BDRC. However, you are charged for the services that you activate and use to fix risks, such as disk snapshots and Cloud Backup.

  2. Check resources.

After you activate BDRC and authorize BDRC to access your cloud resources, BDRC automatically checks the data protection status of your cloud resources. BDRC does not read the data in your cloud resources. After BDRC scans your cloud resources, BDRC automatically monitors the resources and updates the data protection status of the resources on a daily basis. You can also click Check All Resource in the BDRC console to immediately check the latest data protection status of your cloud resources.

  3. View scores and risks.

On the Overview tab in the BDRC console, you can view the data protection scores of your cloud resources. You can also view the scores in a diagram on the Data Disaster Recovery Screen tab. In the Resource Center module, you can view the disaster recovery configurations and potential risks of each resource, such as an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance or an Object Storage Service (OSS) bucket. On the Risk Detection page, you can view the number of resources that fail to pass the check and the status of the resources.

    Overview

On the Overview tab, you can click Check All Resource to check the data protection status of your cloud resources, such as ECS instances, OSS buckets, File Storage NAS (NAS) file systems, and Tablestore instances. You can also view the overall data protection score of each type of resource. By default, the Resource Detection switch is turned on for each type of resource. You can manually turn off the switch. If you turn off the switch for a type of resource, BDRC does not check and score the data protection status of the type of resource.

    Resource Center

In the Resource Center module, you can view the data protection score of each resource, such as an ECS instance or an OSS bucket. For example, you can perform the following operations on the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) page:

    • You can select the ECS instances that you want to manage and click Sync Resource to check all risk items for the instances. In the lower-left corner of the page, you can click Open risk detection or Close Risk Detection to enable or disable the risk detection feature for the selected ECS instances or click Update data protection score to update the data protection scores of the instances. You can check whether the risk detection feature is enabled for an ECS instance based on the value displayed in the Resource Detection column of the instance.

    • You can view the number of risks detected for an ECS instance in the Risk Item column of the instance and click Repair to fix the risks. You can also click Details in the Operation column of the instance to view the details of the risk items that failed to pass the check.

On the Details page, you can click Check all items to check all risk items of the instance. You can also separately check and fix each risk item of the instance.
