Application Real-Time Monitoring Service:Overdue payments

Last Updated:Mar 11, 2026

If your Alibaba Cloud account balance cannot cover a bill on its issue date, Application Real-Time Monitoring Service (ARMS) stops collecting data for Real User Monitoring (RUM). This topic covers how overdue payments are determined, how they affect RUM, and how to prevent service interruptions.

Overdue payment criteria

A bill is overdue when your account balance cannot cover it on the day it is issued.

Overdue payment notifications

ARMS sends a notification on the same day a bill becomes overdue through the following channels:

  • Email

  • Text message

  • Internal message (Alibaba Cloud console)

After you receive a notification, add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account to restore RUM data collection.

Impact on RUM

An overdue payment affects RUM in the following ways:

  • Data collection stops. RUM stops collecting data and monitoring your application.

  • Your application continues to run. The overdue payment does not affect your application itself.

  • Existing data is retained. Monitoring data already collected is not deleted.

  • Service resumes automatically. RUM resumes data collection after you settle the overdue payment.

Prevent overdue payments

Set a balance alert threshold

To receive a notification before your account balance runs out:

  1. Log on to the Expenses and Costs console.

  2. Go to the Account Overview page.

  3. Specify an alert threshold.

When your account balance drops below the threshold, Alibaba Cloud sends a text message notification.

Set a usage limit

To cap the daily data volume for RUM and avoid unexpected charges:

  1. Log on to the ARMS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Real User Monitoring > Usage Statistics.

  3. Click Set a limit.

Configure the following parameters in the dialog box:

Parameter

Description

Write volume limit

The maximum daily data volume for RUM.

After reaching the limit

The action to take when the daily limit is reached. See the options below.

Write volume reaches limit

The percentage threshold at which an alert notification is sent. For example, if you set this to 80%, an alert is triggered when usage reaches 80% of the write volume limit.

Notification object

The contact or contact group that receives alert notifications. To create a contact, see Manage contacts.

Notification period

The time window during which alert notifications are sent.

The After reaching the limit parameter has two options:

  • Automatically stop the application and restart at 00:00 the next day: ARMS stops receiving data reports for the corresponding product and region, then automatically resumes at 00:00 the next day.

  • Automatically stop the application and do not restart at 00:00 the next day: ARMS stops receiving data reports for the corresponding product and region. Data collection does not restart automatically. To restart manually:

    1. In the ARMS console, choose Real User Monitoring > Application List.

    2. Find the target application and click the More icon icon.

    3. Select Application Start/stop and turn on monitoring.
