This topic describes how to renew an instance and upgrade or downgrade the configurations of an instance in the ApsaraMQ for MQTT console.

Background information

If you upgrade or downgrade the configurations of an instance, the changes take effect in the current subscription period. If you renew an instance, the changes take effect in the next subscription period.

Renew an instance

A notification will be sent to the mobile number that is specified within your Alibaba Cloud account seven days before a subscription instance expires. When you receive this notification, renew the instance at the earliest opportunity. If you do not renew the instance upon expiration, the instance is retained for 30 days. After 30 days elapse, the instance and relevant resources such as topics and groups are automatically deleted and cannot be restored.

Enable auto-renewal (Recommended)

If you need to use a service for a long time, you can enable the auto-renewal feature. After the auto-renewal feature is enabled, the system performs auto-renewal before your resources expire to ensure that your resources and data are not deleted. This also prevents your business from being affected.

  1. Log on to the ApsaraMQ for MQTT console. In the top navigation bar, choose Expenses > Renewal Management.
  2. On the Renewal page, select AliwareMQ for IoT in the Instances section. Select the region from the Region drop-down list.
  3. Click the Manual tab. Find the instance for which you want to enable auto-renewal and click Enable Auto Renewal in the Actions column.
  4. In the Enable Auto Renewal dialog box, set the Unified Auto Renewal Cycle parameter and click Auto Renew.

Manually renew an instance

If you need to continue using Message Queue for MQTT but auto-renewal is not enabled for your instance, you can manually renew the instance before it expires.

  1. Log on to the ApsaraMQ for MQTT console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.
  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  4. On the Instances page, find your instance and click the name of the instance or click Details in the Actions column.
  5. In the Overview section of the Instance Details page, click Renew.
  6. On the Renew page, select a renewal period, select Message Queue for MQTT Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now.
  7. On the Purchase page, click Subscribe and complete the payment.

Upgrade or downgrade the configurations of an instance

You can upgrade or downgrade the configuration of an instance to meet your business needs without service disruption.
Important
  • The configuration upgrades of Basic Edition instances take effect immediately. The configuration upgrades of Enterprise Platinum Edition instances require help from ApsaraMQ for MQTT technical support. This may increase the amount of time required for a configuration upgrade to take effect. During this period, the instance is not affected and can be used as expected.
  • Configuration downgrades take effect immediately and may result in a refund. The following formula is used to calculate the refund amount: Refund amount = Remaining balance before the configuration downgrade - Price of the new configurations. For more information, see Rules for unsubscribing from resources.
  • If you use a voucher to purchase an instance, the voucher is not refundable when the configuration downgrade of an instance involves a refund.
  • You cannot upgrade or downgrade the edition of an instance. For example, you cannot upgrade an instance from Basic Edition to Platinum Edition or downgrade an instance from Platinum Edition to Basic Edition.
  1. Log on to the ApsaraMQ for MQTT console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.
  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  4. On the Instances page, find your instance and click the name of the instance or click Details in the Actions column.
  5. In the Overview section of the Instance Details page, click Upgrade or Downgrade.
  6. On the Upgrade or Downgrade page, configure the parameters based on your business requirements, select MQ for IoT (Subscription) Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now.
  7. On the Purchase page, click Subscribe and complete the payment.
