When you migrate a self-managed Apache Kafka cluster to ApsaraMQ for Kafka, choosing the wrong instance size can lead to over-provisioning costs or under-provisioning failures. The specification evaluation tool analyzes your existing cluster parameters and recommends the lowest-cost ApsaraMQ for Kafka instance that meets your workload requirements.
How the tool works
The tool applies a least-cost rule: it takes your self-managed cluster metrics and maps them to the most cost-effective ApsaraMQ for Kafka instance specifications.
You provide the following parameters:
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Traffic usage | Throughput of your self-managed Apache Kafka cluster |
| Disk capacity | Total disk storage used by your cluster |
| Disk type | Type of disks in your self-managed cluster |
| Number of partitions | Total partition count across all topics |
The tool outputs a recommended instance configuration in the Recommended Instance Specifications section of the evaluation panel.
The tool recommends specifications based on the least-cost rule. To compare all available instance tiers, see Instance editions.
Run the specification evaluation
Prerequisites
