When you migrate a self-managed Kafka cluster to the cloud, you need to evaluate its information, such as cluster traffic, disk capacity and type, and the number of partitions. This helps you select a suitable ApsaraMQ for Kafka instance specification. ApsaraMQ for Kafka provides a specification evaluation feature to recommend an appropriate instance specification for your migration.
Prerequisites
Create an Alibaba Cloud account and complete real-name verification. For more information, see Create an Alibaba Cloud account.
Usage
The specification evaluation feature of ApsaraMQ for Kafka recommends a suitable ApsaraMQ for Kafka instance specification based on the information you provide about your self-managed Kafka cluster. You can then deploy an ApsaraMQ for Kafka instance in advance based on the recommendation. During the migration, you can directly select the deployed instance as the destination.
Evaluate specifications
The specification evaluation feature of ApsaraMQ for Kafka recommends the lowest-priced ApsaraMQ for Kafka instance that meets your business requirements.
Log on to the ApsaraMQ for Kafka console.
In the Resource Distribution section of the Overview page, select the region where the ApsaraMQ for Kafka instance that you want to manage resides.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Migration.

On the Migration page, click the Metadata Import tab, and then click Evaluate Specifications.

In the Evaluate Specifications panel, enter the specification details for your self-managed Kafka cluster and click OK.
After the The recommended instance specifications are obtained. message is displayed, the instance specifications recommended for you are displayed in the Recommended Instance Specifications area. The parameters that you need to specify on the Specification Evaluation panel include: Server version (earlier than 0.10.x/0.10.x/1.x.x/2.x.x), IDC migration (Yes/No), Cluster traffic, Public traffic, SSD disk (Yes/No), Disk capacity, Total number of partitions, Number of replicas (1 to 5 replicas), Use case (Business messages/Big data computing), and RT latency requirement (No special requirements/As low as possible). After you click OK, the recommended instance specifications are displayed at the top of the page, including Specification type, Instance type, Peak traffic, Disk type, Disk capacity, Number of partitions, and Server version.
