You can restore an expired ApsaraMQ for Kafka instance if it has not been released or deleted. The restoration steps depend on your billing method and the cause of expiration.
Subscription instances have a 7-day grace period after expiration. If you do not renew within 7 days, the instance is automatically released and cannot be restored.
Instance lifecycle
An instance transitions through the following states after expiration:
| Billing method | Active state | Expired state | Final state |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subscription | Running | Expired (up to 7 days) | Released (permanent) |
| Pay-as-you-go | Running | Stopped or payment overdue | — |
Subscription instances
Unsubscribed or not renewed
A subscription instance expires when the subscription period ends without renewal, or when you unsubscribe.
To restore the instance, renew it in the ApsaraMQ for Kafka console within 7 days after expiration. After renewal, the instance status changes to Running.
For detailed steps, see Instance renewal.
If you do not renew within 7 days, the instance is automatically released. A released instance cannot be restored.
Pay-as-you-go instances
Instance is stopped
If a pay-as-you-go instance is stopped, re-enable it in the ApsaraMQ for Kafka console.
For detailed steps, see Manage the lifecycle of an instance.
Overdue payments on your Alibaba Cloud account
If your Alibaba Cloud account has overdue payments, associated pay-as-you-go instances expire. Top up your account to settle the outstanding balance and restore the instance.
