Billable items and billing rules for Serverless instances - ApsaraMQ for Kafka

ApsaraMQ for Kafka Serverless instances use the pay-as-you-go billing method, which means you are billed based on the actual resources that you use. This method provides high elasticity, improves resource utilization, and reduces business costs. This topic describes the billable items and billing rules for Serverless instances.

Elastic billing

ApsaraMQ for Kafka Serverless Standard Edition and Professional Edition instances offer elastic capabilities. The upper limit for sending and subscription traffic is twice the reserved capacity. If traffic exceeds this upper limit, the instance is throttled. Traffic that exceeds the reserved capacity is billed based on accumulated usage. The fees for traffic that exceeds the reserved capacity are referred to as elastic fees.

Region restrictions

Support for Serverless instances is being rolled out to more regions. To enable a Serverless instance in a specific region, submit a ticket to contact the helpdesk.

Reserved sending capacity	The reserved sending capacity specifies the computing and processing capabilities of a message cluster. It is measured by network interface card (NIC) traffic. NIC traffic = Service traffic + Intra-cluster replica replication traffic. Service traffic is the traffic generated by your business messages. Intra-cluster replica replication traffic is the traffic generated by the three replicas in an ApsaraMQ for Kafka cluster. Basic Edition: The reserved sending capacity ranges from 300 MB/s to 51,300 MB/s. Each adjustment must be an integer multiple of 300 MB. Standard Edition: The reserved sending capacity ranges from 60 MB/s to 51,300 MB/s. Professional Edition: The reserved sending capacity ranges from 60 MB/s to 51,300 MB/s.
Reserved subscription capacity	Basic Edition: The reserved subscription capacity ranges from 100 MB/s to 17,100 MB/s. Each adjustment must be an integer multiple of 100 MB. Standard Edition: The reserved subscription capacity ranges from 20 MB/s to 17,100 MB/s. Professional Edition: The reserved subscription capacity ranges from 20 MB/s to 17,100 MB/s.

Storage space	Billed based on the pricing tier of the used storage space. The minimum billable storage space is 1 GB. If the used storage space is less than 1 GB, it is billed as 1 GB.
Number of partitions	Billed based on the pricing tier of the number of partitions used.
Internet bandwidth traffic (optional)	You can enable or disable Internet access as needed. You are charged for the amount of traffic you use. This fee is charged only when Internet access is enabled.

For the Serverless pay-as-you-go billing method, billing starts after you purchase an instance.

You are billed on an hourly basis. The peak traffic within a one-hour window is used as the actual usage for that hour. Usage for less than one hour is rounded up to one hour.
Bills are generated daily. Fees are calculated on an hourly basis. Alibaba Cloud measures your service usage from the previous day, generates a bill, and automatically deducts the fees from your Alibaba Cloud account.

Important

The default storage space for a single Alibaba Cloud account is 30 TB. If you require more storage capacity, submit a ticket. If you do not request a higher limit and your instance runs low on storage space, the oldest messages may be purged.

For example, you purchase a Standard Edition instance with a reserved sending capacity of 60 MB/s in the China (Hangzhou) region. The usage is as follows:
