ApsaraDB for OceanBase:Instance recycle bin

Last Updated:Apr 25, 2024

This topic describes the features of the instance recycle bin and how to restore the data of a released cluster instance from the instance recycle bin.

Background

The instance recycle bin stores released cluster instances whose backup files are retained. You can restore the data of a released instance from the instance recycle bin to a new cluster.

When an ApsaraDB for OceanBase instance is released, two backup strategies are available:

  • All existing data backups and corresponding log backups are retained. You can view and restore the data from the instance recycle bin. The backups of a cluster instance dropped to the recycle bin are retained, and you will be charged for the backups. No free quota is available for data in the instance recycle bin.

  • Backups are not retained. In this case, the released cluster instance will not enter the instance recycle bin.

Limitations

  • At present, the instance recycle bin supports only cluster instances, and does not support tenant instances or serverless instances.

  • The instance recycle bin supports only cluster-level data restore and does not support the restore of a single tenant.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB for OceanBase console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.

  3. On the Instances page, click Instance Recycle Bin in the upper-right corner. In the instance recycle bin, you can view the name/ID, zone, specifications, type, cluster version, creation time, and deletion time of each released instance.

  4. Click Initiate Restore in the Actions column of the target instance to restore the data of the released cluster instance. For more information, see Restore data backups from the instance recycle bin.

  5. Click the plus sign (+) before the name of the target instance to view the level-1 backups and archived backups of the released instance. Click Delete in the Actions column to delete the backups of the released instance.

Billing for instances in the instance recycle bin

  • After a released instance enters the instance recycle bin, you will be charged for its backup data and no free quota is available. For more information, see Billing for backup and restore. You will not be charged for a released instance that is not in the instance recycle bin.

  • You will not be charged for an instance after it is moved out of the instance recycle bin, namely, after all its backups are deleted.
