ApsaraDB for OceanBase:Automatically route write requests sent to the standby database

Last Updated:Mar 10, 2025

This topic describes how to enable automatic routing of write requests sent to the standby instance in a primary/standby database deployment.

Background

With automatic write routing enabled, write requests sent to the primary address of the standby instance in a private network are automatically routed to the primary instance, whereas read requests continue to be served by the standby instance.

Note

At present, the automatic write routing feature is available only in OceanBase Database V4.2.1 and later.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the ApsaraDB for OceanBase console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.

  3. In the instance list, find the standby instance of the target cluster. Click the instance name to go to the Cluster Instance Workspace page.

  4. In the left-side navigation pane, click Tenant Management.

  5. In the tenant list, click the name of the target tenant to go to the Tenant Workspace page.

  6. On the page that appears, turn on or off Automatic routing of standby write requests on the right side of the Deployment Diagram section.

    Note

This feature can be enabled or disabled only in the standby instance. On the Tenant Workspace page of the primary instance, you can check whether this feature is enabled, but cannot enable or disable it.

  7. In the confirmation window that appears, confirm whether to enable or disable automatic write routing.

    • Enable automatic write routing

In the confirmation window that appears, click the open button.

    • Disable automatic write routing

In the confirmation window that appears, click the close button.
