This topic describes how to restore the data of an instance that runs on an ApsaraDB MyBase for PostgreSQL host to another instance. Data loss may occur if you restore the data to the original instance.

Prerequisites

The original instance must meet the following requirements:

  • The original instance is in the Running state and is not locked.
  • The instance does not have ongoing migration tasks.
  • If you want to restore data from the log backup generated at a specified point in time, make sure that the log backup feature is enabled for the original instance.
  • If you want to restore data from a backup set, the original instance has at least one complete physical backup.

Notes

  • The new instance must have the same whitelist, backup, and parameter settings as the original instance.
  • The data information in the new instance must be the same as the data information that is indicated by the specified backup set or log backup file of the original instance.
  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB MyBase console.
  2. In the upper-left corner of the RDS Dedicated Clusters page, select the region where the instance for which you want to restore data is deployed.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Clusters. On the page that appears, find the dedicated cluster that you want to manage and click Details in the Actions column.
  4. In the left-side navigation tree of the dedicated cluster page, click Instances. Find the instance for which you want to restore data and choose More > Restore Database.
  5. In the Restore Database (Previously Clone Instance) panel, configure the parameters.
    Parameter Description
    Storage Type Select the storage type of the new instance. You can select one of the following storage types:
    • Enhanced SSD
    • PL2 ESSD
    • PL3 ESSD
    Note A higher performance level indicates better performance. For more information, see ESSDs.
    VSwitch Specify the vSwitch to which the new instance is connected. If no vSwitches are available, create a vSwitch as prompted below the drop-down list.
    Restore Mode
    • By Time: You can restore data from the log backup generated at a specified point in time. The specified point in time must be within the specified log retention period. The time is accurate to seconds. For more information about how to view or change the retention period of log backups, see Enable automatic backups for an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance.
    • By Backup Set: You can restore data from a specified backup set. You can restore data only from a backup set that is generated from a physical backup. You cannot restore data from a backup set that is generated from a logical backup.
    Note The By Time option appears only if the log backup feature is enabled.
    By Backup Set You must select the ID of a specific backup set.
    Instance Type The specifications of the new instance.
    Storage Capacity The storage capacity of the new instance.
  6. Click OK.
