This topic describes the status changes and handling policies of Cloud-native API Gateway instances when the instance expires or you have an overdue payment in your Alibaba Cloud account. To ensure business continuity, we recommend that you renew your instance or top up your account at the earliest opportunity.
Pay-as-you-go instances
Overdue state and its impact
When the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account is insufficient to settle an outstanding payment, the Cloud-native API Gateway resources of your account and its Resource Access Management (RAM) users enter the overdue state.
Check overdue payments
Log on to the Expenses and Costs console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Billing > Bills. On the Overview of Monthly Bill page, you can view the overdue amount.
Impact of overdue
If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment for less than 15 days (360 hours), your Cloud-native API Gateway instance can still be used and is billed as usual.
If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment for more than 15 days (360 hours):
Your Cloud-native API Gateway instance is suspended and no longer provides services. You can no longer use the service in the console or by calling operations in OpenAPI.
The instance and its data are retained temporarily.
If you settle overdue payments, the instance resumes services as expected.
If your instance is suspended for more than 15 days (360 hours) and the overdue payments are still not settled, the instance and its data are released and deleted beyond restoration.
NoteNo fees are incurred after the instance is released.
Alibaba Cloud supports the extended suspension service. During an extended suspension period, you can still use pay-as-you-go resources if overdue payments occur and the overdue amount does not reach the extended suspension quota. You are still charged for using the pay-as-you-go resources within the extended suspension period. The overdraft limit is not equal to the maximum overdue payment that is allowed. The overdraft limit and period are automatically calculated and updated on a monthly basis based on the consumption records of your Alibaba Cloud account..
Subscription instances
A subscription resource is available until it expires, regardless of whether your Alibaba Cloud account has sufficient balance. However, you cannot purchase more instances or upgrade or renew the existing instance if your account balance is lower than the required amount.
Before expiration
The system sends notifications to your Alibaba Cloud account 7 days (168 hours), 3 days (72 hours), and 1 day (24 hours) before your instance expires. You are notified to renew your instance at the earliest opportunity.
Check instance status
Log on to the Expenses and Costs console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Renewal Management to go to the Renewal Management page. Click the Manual Renewal, Auto-Renewal, or Nonrenewal upon Expiration tab as needed. You can check whether the instance has expired in the Expiration Countdown column and view the specific expiration date in the Start/End Time column.
Impact after expiration
After your instance expires, it is suspended immediately and no longer provides services. You cannot use it in the console or by calling operations in OpenAPI.
Within 15 days (360 hours) after your instance expires:
