If a domain name does not need to be accelerated by Alibaba Cloud CDN, you can disable the domain name or remove it from Alibaba Cloud CDN.
Background information
The following table describes the differences between disabling an accelerated domain
name and removing an accelerated domain name.
Scenario | Operation | Description |
---|---|---|
Suspend acceleration for an accelerated domain name | Disable the accelerated domain name | After an accelerated domain name is disabled, acceleration is suspended. The status
of the domain name changes to Disabled. Alibaba Cloud CDN maps the CNAME of the domain name to an invalid domain name. The
settings of the domain name are retained on CDN edge nodes. If the resolution settings
are cached on the local DNS server, or the mapping between the accelerated domain
name and a CDN edge node is retained in the hosts file on a user client, data transfer
is still generated. For more information about the offline state, see Rules for disabling accelerated domain names.
Note A disabled accelerated domain name is not removed from Alibaba Cloud CDN. The settings
of the accelerated domain name are retained on CDN edge nodes. If you want to enable
acceleration for the domain name again, navigate to the Domain Names page, find the domain name, and then click Enable in the Actions column.
|
Permanently disable acceleration for an accelerated domain name | Remove the accelerated domain name | After an accelerated domain name is removed from Alibaba Cloud CDN, acceleration is
permanently disabled. After an accelerated domain name is removed from Alibaba Cloud
CDN, the settings of the domain name are also removed from CDN edge nodes. The domain
name is on longer billed by Alibaba Cloud CDN.
Note If a removed domain name wants to use Alibaba Cloud CDN again, add the domain name
to Alibaba Cloud CDN again and complete relevant settings.

Prerequisites
Before you disable or remove an accelerated domain name, we recommend that you migrate
the workloads of the domain name to another domain name to prevent service interruptions.
You can migrate workloads from one domain name to another in the following ways:
- Add a domain name to Alibaba Cloud CDN to replace the one that you want to remove. Then, requests are sent to the new domain name. Workloads will be gradually migrated to the new domain name.
- In the DNS settings of the domain name that you want to remove, map the accelerated domain name to the origin server instead of the CNAME.
