Container Service for Kubernetes:[Product Changes] The default metering method used by the CLB instance of the API server changes from pay-by-specification to pay-by-usage for newly created ACK clusters

Last Updated:Apr 30, 2024

The default metering method used by the Classic Load Balancer (CLB) instance of the API server will be changed from pay-by-specification to pay-by-usage for Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) clusters that are created at 00:00:00 on October 25, 2023 or later. You can also manually change the metering method. The change will be completed at 00:00:00 on November 1, 2023.

Time

The change starts at 00:00:00 on October 25, 2023 and ends at 00:00:00 on November 1, 2023.

Scope of impacts

Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) clusters that are created at 00:00:00 on October 25, 2023 or later are affected, including ACK managed clusters, ACK dedicated clusters, ACK Serverless clusters, ACK Edge clusters, ACK Lingjun clusters, and registered clusters. The change applies to both ACK Basic clusters and ACK Pro clusters.

Note

The following clusters are not affected:

  • ACK managed clusters and ACK dedicated clusters with the Billing Method parameter set to Subscription when you create the clusters on the Cluster Configurations page in the ACK console.

  • Clusters that are created before 00:00:00 (UTC+8) on October 25, 2023.

Usage notes

After the default metering method used by the CLB instance of the API server is changed, the CLB instance fee may also change. When you create an ACK cluster in the ACK console, pay attention to the instructions related to CLB instances in the Access to API Server section and check the CLB instance information in the Quantity, Billing Method, and Price columns on the Confirm Order wizard page. ACK Lingjun clusters are created in the Intelligent Computing Lingjun console.
