This topic describes the billable items of Simple Application Server, such as plan specifications, data disks, and excess data transfers.

Plan specifications and excess data transfers

Resource plans of simple application servers are billed on a subscription basis. Prices of resource plans vary based on images. Each resource plan includes a monthly data transfer quota. When actual data transfers exceed this quota, excess data transfers are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. For more information about pricing of plan specifications and excess data transfers, visit the Pricing tab of the Simple Application Server page.

Data disks

If you attach a data disk to a simple application server when you create the server, you must pay for the data disk. Data disks attached to simple application servers are billed on a subscription basis. The following table describes the prices of data disks in different regions.
Region Price (USD/GB/month)
US (Silicon Valley) $0.17
  • India (Mumbai)
  • Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur)
$0.178
  • China (Hong Kong)
  • Singapore (Singapore)
  • US (Virginia)
  • Indonesia (Jakarta)
$0.187
  • Germany (Frankfurt)
  • UK (London)
$0.204
Japan (Tokyo) $0.221
Australia (Sydney) $0.23

Related services

If you use other Alibaba Cloud services to build websites on simple application servers, you must pay for the services. Examples:
  • SSL Certificates Service: Purchase Security Socket Layer (SSL) certificates to enable secure HTTPS access for simple application servers.

SSL Certificate Service provides free domain validation (DV) certificates and paid organization validation (OV) and Extended Validation (EV) certificates. For more information, see Billing.

  • Alibaba Cloud DNS: Purchase an Alibaba Cloud DNS edition and use it to bind and resolve domain names.

Alibaba Cloud DNS is available in a free edition and paid Personal Edition, Enterprise Standard Edition, and Enterprise Ultimate Edition. For more information, see Pricing.

Examples of calculating fees for simple application servers

The following table describes how to calculate fees for simple application servers in different scenarios.
Example Scenario Fee (USD)

When you create a simple application server, you must pay upfront for the selected subscription resources.

The following resources are used to create a simple application server in the following region:
  • Region: China (Hong Kong)
  • Image: CentOS 7.6
  • Plan price: USD 3.5/month
  • Data disk size: 20 GB
  • Subscription period: three months

Formula used to calculate the total configuration fee of a simple application server: Plan price × Subscription period + Data disk price × Subscription period.

In this example, the total configuration fee of the simple application server is USD 21.72, which is calculated based on the following formula: 3.50 × 3 + 0.187 × 20 × 3 = 21.72.

A running simple application server continues to transfer data to the Internet after the data transfer quota in the resource plan is exceeded. The excess data transfers are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

A simple application server deployed in the China (Hong Kong) region transfers 8 GB of data to the Internet after the data transfer quota in the resource plan is used out.

Formula used to calculate the fees for excess data transfers: Data transfer price per GB × Excess data transfers.

In this example, the fees for excess data transfers are USD 1.224, which are calculated based on the following formula: 0.153 × 8 = 1.224.
