Quick BI:Announcement of stability upgrade impact for the Alibaba Cloud data center in Frankfurt, Germany

Overview

Due to a stability upgrade at the Alibaba Cloud Frankfurt data center, the Quick BI service will undergo a simultaneous architectural upgrade on April 27, 2025. To prevent disruption to your business on Quick BI, complete the following actions promptly:

1. For data sources that require access through a whitelist, add the following new IP address to the corresponding database whitelist before April 27, 2025: 47.254.152.220.

   For more information, see Set an IP address whitelist.

2. Check the validity of the AccessKey (AK) and SecretKey (SK) for your Alibaba Cloud VPC data sources. After the service upgrade, Quick BI will re-check the authorization for VPC data sources. If an AK/SK pair has expired, request a new one and update the corresponding data source information to ensure successful authorization.

3. To improve data source flexibility and security, classic network connections for cloud data sources are being disabled. You must convert these data sources to use VPC connections. If your Quick BI instance has data sources that require a connection configuration change, our operations team will contact you.

4. For MaxCompute data sources that use a classic network connection, add the following VPC whitelist entry: vpc-gw83z1wh1pi1dygiyr6rv[172.31.0.0/24]. If you use a classic network endpoint outside the Frankfurt region, you must switch to a public network connection.

5. Because the classic network is being decommissioned, VPC data sources outside the Frankfurt region are no longer supported. You must access them through a public network connection.

Procedures

1. Add the new IP address to the data source whitelist. For more information, see Set an IP address whitelist.

2. Check the validity of the data source AK/SK information:

   1. Go to the Alibaba Cloud Management Console and navigate to the AccessKey Management page as shown in the following figure:

   2. Check the status of the AK/SK.If a key has expired, click Create AccessKey to obtain a new one.

   3. After you obtain a new AK/SK, update the information in the Quick BI data source:

3. Convert the data source connection from a classic network to a VPC or public network connection:

   1. For a Hologres data source, go to the data source configuration page, enable the VPC data source option, and enter the AK/SK information. For information about how to obtain an AK/SK, see the previous section.

   2. For an RDS data source, convert the connection from a classic network to a public network connection:

      1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Management Console and locate the public endpoint.

         Note

         Different data sources have different billing rules for public network connections. For more information, see the documentation for the relevant Alibaba Cloud data source.

      2. Add the public IP address specified in Overview, Step 1.

   3. Go to the Quick BI data source configuration page and change the database address to the public endpoint address.

4. For MaxCompute data sources that use a classic network connection, add the new VPC whitelist. This connection method is supported only in the Frankfurt region. If your classic network address is not http://service.eu-central-1.maxcompute.aliyun-inc.com/api, you must switch to a public endpoint. For more information, see Endpoint.

   1. If your database uses a MaxCompute classic network connection with the Frankfurt endpoint (http://service.eu-central-1.maxcompute.aliyun-inc.com/api), add the following Quick BI VPC whitelist: vpc-gw83z1wh1pi1dygiyr6rv[172.31.0.0/24]

   2. If you use a cross-region endpoint, such as http://service.us-west-1.maxcompute.aliyun-inc.com/api, you must switch to the public endpoint: https://service.us-west-1.maxcompute.aliyun.com/api. Then, add the public IP address from the first step of the Overview section to the whitelist.

5. For VPC data sources, cross-region connections are no longer supported because the classic network is being decommissioned. Check the region of your VPC data source. Going forward, only VPC data sources in the Frankfurt region will be supported.
