    Content Moderation:Activation and billing overview

    This topic describes how to activate AI Guardrails and its pay-as-you-go billing method.

    Important

    After you activate the pay-as-you-go plan for AI Guardrails, the Content Compliance check service is enabled by default. To check for sensitive content or prompt attacks, you must enable these features in the console. For more information, see the sections below.

    Activate pay-as-you-go for AI Guardrails

    Activating the pay-as-you-go plan for AI Guardrails is free. You are billed based on your actual usage. The billing rules are as follows:

    Important

    This feature will be commercially billed starting from January 22, 2026. If you do not need this service, disable it in the AI Guardrails console to avoid incurring fees.

    The pay-as-you-go billing for AI Guardrails is based on the type and volume of content checked.

    1. Go to the AI Guardrails activation page.

    2. Read and agree to the Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now.

    Overdue payments and top-ups

    The billing cycle for AI Guardrails is 24 hours.

    Alibaba Cloud generates a bill for your usage in the previous billing cycle and deducts the amount from your Alibaba Cloud account. Bills are typically generated 10 to 12 hours after the end of each calendar day.

    If your account has an overdue payment, the service is paused. After you pay the overdue amount, you can use the AI Guardrails service again. The service resumes within 5 minutes.

    Enable sensitive content detection, prompt attack detection, malicious file detection, or digital watermarking

    1. Log on to the AI Guardrails console. On the Protection Configuration > Configuration page, select the detection features to enable based on your business needs.

    2. To enable Sensitive content detection or Prompt injection detection, review the information in the pop-up window. These features are billed separately.
