Before you store backup data in storage pools such as Object Storage Service (OSS) buckets or self-managed Network Attached Storage (NAS) file systems, you must add the storage pools to Database Backup (DBS). After you add a storage pool, you can specify the storage pool in a backup policy to store backup data in the storage pool.

Prerequisites

Your application for the storage pool feature during the public preview is approved. For more information, see Note.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the DBS console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Storage Pool. On the Storage Pool page, click Add storage pool.
  2. Set the required parameters to add a storage pool.
You can set the Storage type parameter to NAS or OSS For User.
    • If you set the Storage type parameter to NAS, set the parameters that are described in the following table to add a self-managed NAS file system as a storage pool.
      Parameter Description
Storage type The type of the storage pool. In this example, select NAS.
Protocol Type The protocol that is used by the storage pool. Only the Net File System (NFS) protocol is supported.
Connection Method The method that is used to connect to the storage pool. Valid values:
      • VPC: Before you select a virtual private cloud (VPC), make sure that the self-managed NAS file system is connected to the VPC. We recommend that you set the Connection Method parameter to VPC. For more information, see What is a VPC?

A VPC is a private network dedicated to your Alibaba Cloud account. You can connect to a storage pool over a VPC to ensure higher security and lower network latency.

      • Public Network: The self-managed NAS file system is connected to DBS over the Internet.
Note If you set the Connection Type parameter to Public Network, you are not charged for traffic, but the connection may be exposed to security risks. To improve security, we recommend that you use a VPC.
Storage pool name The name of the storage pool.
NAS Version The version of the NAS file system. Only NFSv4 is supported. For more information, see Comparison of Network File System version 4 to Prior Versions.
      Region
      • If you set the Connection Type parameter to VPC, select the region where the VPC resides.
      • If you set the Connection Type parameter to Public Network, select a region that is close to your NAS file system.
Peer VPC Set this parameter to Peer VPC.

This parameter is displayed only when you set the Connection Type parameter to VPC.

Endpoint The VPC or public endpoint of the self-managed NAS file system.

If you set the Connection Method parameter to VPC, you must specify an IP address. If you set the Connection Method parameter to Public Network, you can specify an IP address or a domain name.

Port Number The port number that is used to connect to the self-managed NAS file system.
Mount Target Optional. The mount target of the self-managed NAS file system.
Storage Capacity The storage capacity of the storage pool. Unit: GB.
    • If you set the Storage type parameter to OSS For User, set the parameters that are described in the following table to add an OSS bucket as a storage pool.
      Parameter Description
Storage type The type of the storage pool. In this example, select OSS For User. This indicates that an OSS bucket is used as a storage pool. For more information, see What is OSS?.
Manufacturer By default, Alibaba Cloud is used.
Storage pool name The name of the storage pool.
Region The region where the OSS bucket resides.
Bucket Name The name of the OSS bucket. To view existing OSS buckets, go to the Buckets page in the OSS console. For more information, see Create buckets.
accessKeyID The AccessKey ID that is used to log on to the OSS bucket. For information about how to obtain an AccessKey pair, see Obtain an AccessKey pair.
accessKeySecret The AccessKey secret that is used to log on to the OSS bucket. For information about how to obtain an AccessKey pair, see Obtain an AccessKey pair.
  3. Click Done.
  4. After you add a storage pool, you can specify the storage pool in a backup policy to store backup data in the storage pool.

Modify or remove a storage pool

To modify or remove a storage pool, perform the following steps: On the Storage Pool page of the DBS console, find the storage pool that you want to modify or remove, and click Edit or Delete in the Actions column.

If the storage pool is associated with a backup schedule, you cannot remove the storage pool.
