Traffic is defined as the cumulative data flow that is generated when you access Object Storage Service (OSS). Traffic includes outbound traffic over the Internet, outbound traffic over the internal network, inbound traffic over the Internet, inbound traffic over the internal network, origin traffic, and cross-region replication (CRR) traffic. You are charged for the total traffic that is generated when you access OSS.
This topic describes the billable items and billing methods of OSS. For more information, visit the OSS pricing page.
Billable items
OSS provides a free quota of 100 GB per month for outbound traffic over the Internet (NetworkOut). If your monthly outbound traffic over the Internet is less than or equal to 100 GB, you are not charged for outbound traffic over the Internet. The free quota is available only in the following regions: China (Hong Kong), US (Silicon Valley), US (Virginia), Singapore, Australia (Sydney), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Indonesia (Jakarta), Philippines (Manila), Thailand (Bangkok), Japan (Tokyo), South Korea (Seoul), Germany (Frankfurt), UK (London), UAE (Dubai), and India (Mumbai). The following table describes the billing rules for traffic that is generated when you access OSS.
You are not charged for the traffic that is generated by requests for which HTTP status code 4xx or 5xx is returned.
The regions where the free quota is available are the regions where the buckets are located. The regions are independent of the regions from which the requests are sent.
Billable item | Billing rule | Billing cycle | Billing method |
Outbound traffic over the Internet (NetworkOut) | Traffic that is generated when data is transferred from OSS to the client over the Internet. | You are billed on an hourly basis. Bills are generally generated after a billing cycle ends. The time when bills are generated is determined by the system. |
|
Inbound traffic over the Internet | Traffic that is generated when data is transferred from the client to OSS over the Internet. | Free of charge.
Outbound traffic over the internal network | Traffic that is generated when data is transferred from OSS to the client over the internal network. For more information about how to use internal endpoints, see OSS domain names. | Free of charge.
Inbound traffic over the internal network | Traffic that is generated when data is transferred from the client to OSS over the internal network. | Free of charge.
Origin traffic (CdnOut) | Traffic that is generated when data is transferred from OSS to Alibaba Cloud CDN points of presence (POPs). |
Note If you use both OSS and Alibaba Cloud CDN, the public endpoints of OSS are used. In this case, data is transferred over the Internet by default.
CRR traffic (ReplicationDatasize) | Outbound traffic that is generated when you use CRR to synchronize data from a source bucket to a destination bucket. |
