This topic describes the procedure for using Global Accelerator (GA) and the basic scenarios of Global Accelerator to help you get started.
Procedure
This topic describes how to use a pay-as-you-go GA instance. If you want to use a subscription GA instance, you must associate a basic bandwidth plan with the instance. This way, you can configure acceleration regions and endpoint groups.
Use standard GA instances
You can use standard GA instances to accelerate content delivery at Layer 4 (TCP and UDP) and Layer 7 (HTTP and HTTPS). Perform the following steps:
Creates a pay-as-you-go standard GA instance.
When you create a pay-as-you-go standard GA instance, you can configure the acceleration areas, listeners, and endpoint groups. For more information, see Create and manage standard GA instances.
Conditionally required: If you use GA to accelerate a domain name, you must configure DNS settings and map the domain name that you want to accelerate to the CNAME that is allocated by GA.
For more information about how to configure a CNAME record, see Add a CNAME record for a domain name.
Use basic GA instances
You can use basic GA instances to accelerate content delivery at Layer 3 (IP). Perform the following steps:
Create a pay-as-you-go basic GA instance that uses the pay-by-data-transfer bandwidth metering method.
For more information, see Create a pay-as-you-go basic GA instance.
Add an acceleration area and accelerated IP addresses.
For more information, see Add an acceleration area.
Add an endpoint group and endpoints, and associate the accelerated IP addresses with the endpoint group.
For more information, see Add and manage endpoint groups and endpoints.
Basic scenarios
GA instance type | Scenario |
Standard | Accelerate transmission of network traffic destined for a specified IP address |
Accelerate access to a backend service with a specified domain name | |
